Pyramid of Conservation

Our goal at Mapawatt is to help people visualize their energy consumption so they can understand where to make a difference.  This is also the goal of the Pyramid of Conservation by Minnesota Power.  The pyramid is a simple tool that homeowners can use to decide which conservation choices will be right for them.  The base of the pyramid is made up of knowledge tools to help you determine where to start, and as you climb the pyramid you increase in complexity and/or cost of investment; however, this doesn't necessarily correlate to a increase in return on investment!

The pyramid also acts as an information organizer, as each level is hyper-linked to related conservation categories.  I would highly recommend bookmarking that page (only after you bookmark this blog!).

I would like to see a higher influence on a programmable thermostat (they do have "temperature settings" as important) and maybe mention tinted window film as another option to replacing windows, but all-in-all the pyramid is done very well.  Also, it would be nice to see how the rankings on the pyramid change for people living in different parts of the country.

What do you think should be on the conservation pyramid or ranked higher?
