I've covered Guy Marsden before; mainly because of all the people in the U.S. who live sustainably and chronicle it on the web, he may be one of the best.   I was perusing his site tonight and noticed his section on the Chevy Volt that he owns and powers mostly with his Solar PV system.  It's an awesome example of sustainable living that uses actual facts and data to show how he powers his car mainly with the sun.    The Volt gets a lot of negative publicity for some reason even though it is a pretty amazing feat of engineering.  Yes, it's pricey, but so is a Lexus or Mercedes.  I am willing to bet that the engineering behind the Volt is just as impressive as the engineering behind expensive foreign cars.  Click here if you want to learn more about the value of an electric car.

I'll shut up now and let you enjoy some of Guy's pictures seen on his Volt page:

I have had a volt since November of 2011 and it is a great car. I also have solar power on my office building and am completely Netzero. I basically charge at my office with 240 and commute 15 miles to and from work . The Car get anywhere from 40 to 45 miles per charge before switching to gas. I'm not a Chevy fan but I wanted an electric car and this seemed to make the most sense. The plug in hybrid gave me the most options. Doing the math on kwh from a solar system against the cost of fuel gives me a 2.47 year return on my solar system and then my fuel source is free. I still drive my gas cars on longer trips because I don't want to mess up my mpgs on the cars data. It's like a game for some reason. I guess I'm not truly green but I love the car.
