Obama Energy Forum

I was excited to see this article on CNN this morning.  Obama has invited 16 of the world's most influential economies to an Energy Forum in D.C. next month on April 27-28.  The article mentions a quote he said to renewable-energy companies and investors last week:

"We can allow climate change to wreak unnatural havoc or we can create jobs preventing its worse effects," he said. "We can hand over the jobs of the 21st century to our competitors, or we can create those jobs right here in America."

And finally the article mentions that in his speech to the companies and investors, "He argued that an expanded investment is needed to lay the foundation for long-term economic growth, cut dependence on foreign oil and slow the process of global warming."

This is what I'm talking about!  Obama isn't just talking about one issue, but all the different issues that are the key market drivers for a more sustainable future.  He understands that unless the U.S. gets off our @$$ and shows some leadership, we are going to be left in the dust.  Why was it so hard for our previous administration to do something like this?

There are those who probably think this forum will be a waste of time, but  to them I say , "Where else is there for the US economy to go?"  We've gone down the route of manufacturing (now done mostly in China, India, Mexico, etc.), we were the leaders in internet (slowly migrating overseas with India leading the charge), and we saw what happens when we let our economy be driven by Wall Street!  So what else is there?

We have to be the leaders in a more sustainable future. That means producing more efficient technologies, better alternative energies, more brain-power than what China, India, and Russia can pump out, and a society that accepts and drives these issues forward.  Obama understands this.

This Energy Forum next month isn't just a meeting.  It's a sales presentation that the US is giving to the rest of the world.  Obama is demonstrating that we're serious about this and telling everyone else in big, bold letters: We are going to be the leaders in a Clean Energy and Sustainable future.

Hey Guys, Does anyone Know of an online course to build a solar panel for the home? I need a course that will walk you through the process, as I am a beginner at this. I've seen a few courses online that look good but I would like some advice by people who have actually tried some of them. Thanks
Solarkims, There are some "build your own solar" plans out there, but they make you pay for them. The question is: Why do you want to do this? Is it for educational purposes? If so, then that's fine. But if you think you are saving money by doing this, you are mistaken. The time and material you would put in to this would be much more than if you just bought used solar panels on ebay. Feel free to send an email to info@mapawatt.com to ask a specific question!
I hope there's good info here I'm interested in getting some useful info, I hope this is the right place. Leave me a post and introduce yourself Later,
absolutely. Like charity, energy savings should begin at home. It is up to us as individuals to buid energy efficiency and sustainability into our lives as well as encourage realistic government efforts in that regard. Ed
