The Green Millionaire : Buyer Beware!

* Update - 4/16/12 - FTC orders Green Millionaire founder has to pay 2 million in damages!
I recently had a friend and reader suggest I check out this great new free book he found called The Green Millionaire.  He said I could get a free copy at the website (I'm not even going to link to their site because it's too close to a scam for my taste).  When I went there, I saw something that looked very "scammish".  Anything promising "free" anything immediately sets off my alarm signals.  So I did a little digging (a.k.a. google) and found this article from Fibomercials and Scams.

Basically, you sign up for the "free" book and they need your credit card for the $1 "shipping and handling" charge.  But the devil is in the details!  The fine print says:

*Start your free trial today and we will also send you a free 14 day subscription to The Green Millionaire eMagazine. Just pay a $1.00 processing fee. You will have 14 days to try The Green Millionaire eMagazine and discover how to become wealthier while saving the planet. If you like the simple, powerful solutions presented in the program, do nothing. At the end of your free trial period you will be charged the discounted price of $29.95, and every 60 days thereafter.

And then gives you the number to call to cancel your  subscription.  I wonder how hard it is to get through to a live person?

After doing my research I asked my friend to check his credit card bill and guess what?  Here was his reply:

Argghh!!!  Looks like I’m in the scam wheel.  I didn’t even know it was from an infomercial (which I never watch).  I think I found the link through another referral.

Well I got the book, and it’s OK.  Nothing earth shattering, but some good ideas.  I’ll give you my copy if you want it… I’m too pissed to hold on to it.  They did charge me $29.95.  I will dispute with my CC company, and maybe cancel my card.

So, if you need some green tips then go ahead and get your "Green Millionaire" book,  pay $29.95 every 60 days or take the trouble to cancel your "subscription".  Or you can read this blog and the other great resources that are out there that cost you nothing.  I won't say it's free though because I do "force" you to glance at ads.  Hey, a guy has to eat (I just bough some nice grass-fed steaks) doesn't he?

THANK YOU !!! THANK YOU !!! THANK YOU !!! For being here! I almost went directly to the website freegreenwealth.com to find out how to get free home solar panelling and decided instead to google it first for once (after supporting many scams for years "out there" maybe I'm getting smarter in my old age or maybe it's a fluke). You have saved me money and I realy appreciate it. However I think Amy and I have a bit in common because I am still curious as to whether they had any real info on how to get free home solar panels? Could one of you who bought the "free" book tell me? If so thank you again, if not you've already made my day for helping my credit card escape these no good dirty scoundrels!
Thank you all for your posts. I didn't find any reports on ripoffreport.com. I thought this company was a ripoff and looked it up on google and found this site. Maybe you can all re report on ripoffreport.com too. A lot of folk check out the bad guys there too.
well i called them monday and told them about this money charged. she tells me about the notice was right there and all that garbage. i disagreed and wanted my refund. she said they could only give me $25.00, hahaha... i said thats not good enough i want all of it because its for my insulin and im not gonna die over your book crap. she put me on hold to ask her boss. come back and tells me i get all of it back within next 7-14 days. im not buying no more online. thanks you all. bybye.
Hey, I've got a copy of Kevin Trudeau's "Debt Secrets" if anyone wants it...That one, I purchased outright for $29.95 and declined all the other crap. However, my inbox became an utter mess with all the spam from spammers he sells your email address to.
i got scammed by Green Millionaire, anyway to get my money back? why would i have to cancel my card?
If you do not cancel the card the charges will continue. Call your card holder and see if they offer a block service to that company. This usually will cost you a fee. Best of luck
The infomercial has made its' way to Fox News of all places. It seems they changed up the title a little bit. The website name they use is now www.freegreenwealth .com. This may be old info, but at least I was able to come upon this blog/site. Thank you for all the posts. ***TIP*** whenever looking up something on line, always make sure you type in "scam" on your Google search. It will save you so much aggravation. I even recommend doing that before looking at so called bogus products, it will save you aggravation, if not tons of green.
Yep, there is no way in the world to get rich quick, and if u do find a way be sure to let me know in when I am in hell. However, the only advice i can give is this, everybody has money and u have to make some sort of product to get peoples money, this is one such example but this is pure scam. The only way to get rich is to be aggressive, break the rules, and find a way to take advantage of other people, if this doesn't sound like something you want to do then you should just go back to working an honest living and being poor all your life. Sounds depressing doesn't it? well its the truth and thats how things are.
